There is a lot of talk out there about “Fractional Laser Resurfacing”.
Here is some information to help clarify what that means and why the public is so excited about this treatment.

For those of us not ready for surgical procedures….Fractional laser resurfacing can provide the next best thing. This technology allows fractionated light from the laser to go beneath the skin surface to heat the dermal layer and initiate the stimulation of collagen through the body’s own ability to heal. Because the light is “fractionated” some of the skin stays in tact so the healing process is shortened.

Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing repairs enlarged pores, acne scars and improves the texture and tone of the skin. The procedure requires approximately one week of minimal down time. This down time varies depending on the intensity of the energy level selected. You get to determine what setting you would like used. The post healing process is more visible than it is painful. Typically, the first day it feels like a bad sunburn, some swelling may occur depending on the intensity level chosen. The sunburn look turns to a dark brown stage followed by peeling that begins on about day three.

The fun part is when your new, blemish free skin becomes visible. The hardest part is to be patient while the collagen building process
occurs. Improvements will continue over 3-6 months. Your body needs time to build up the new, stronger collagen level in your skin. It is not instantaneous but don’t worry your friends will notice the dullness removed, the youthful glow and the toning and tightening that continues to improve in the months to come!

Laser Hair removal is fast becoming a staple procedure for many thousands of people. Unwanted hair can be eliminated or at least greatly reduced. Laser Hair Removal (LHR) is a multi step process. The hair follicles are literally destroyed via the transmission of heat (caused by the laser pulse) through the hair shaft to the bulb. When the hair has it’s most color (melanin) the Alexandrite (755nm) laser (for skin types 1-3) is most effective. Because hair grows in cycles and the earliest part of growth phase brings with it the most melanin that’s the ideal time to destroy a hair follicle.

The laser will sufficiently damage the hair follicles so that about ten days after being treated the hairs will begin to evacuate themselves from the skin (much like a splinter will , only with no pain). You will be able to see the process as the hair begins to fall out. Now you have the result you have hoped for. But , wait a minute, while you may seem mostly hair free in the treated area (and you are very happy about this), this will only last for about 3-4 more weeks. Then your ready for your second treatment. This pattern will repeat itself until you have completed about six treatments. After which you should have way less, if any visible hair in the treated area. The great thing about the LHR process is that for about half of the time between treatments you will be generally hair free and after the six treatments you will be good to go for years.

It is critical in our experience, to be committed to a scheduled treatment regimen at 5-6 week intervals. As the new cycle of hair growth occurs the laser needs to be applied. The schedule and the hair growth cycles work together such that your growth cycles will get in sync with your treatments and you will get the hair reduction/removal you are hoping for.

The end result will be softer smoother, hairless looking skin area that will feel soft and smooth much like the underside of a (typical) females’ forearm. Also the visibility of the pores where the hair once grew will decrease markedly if not completely disappear.

We have gotten the best results using the Candela GentleLase Mini. It’s the fastest, least painful and most effective laser that we have found and our clients heartily agree. As an example, treating a females’ underarms or bikini area takes less than ten minutes, then they’re on their way back to work or play or wherever.

Stay out of the sun and stay on schedule, don’t wax, tweeze, or depiltate between treatments and this process works wonderfully well. Be sure you are a good candidate and that your laser center and laser operator are well trained and very good at operating the laser safely and effectively.

As we’re about to publish a number of before and after photos to our Evanesque website, this title came to mind.

Before I had Laser Hair Removal (LHR) on my underarms I hated the constant chore of shaving. After, I never give shaving the slightest thought and my skin there is entirely soft and smooth. Haven’t touched my underarms with a razor in over 4 years, I love it. The Candela GentleLase has been a wonderful asset to me and to our LHR clients. Before, my friend Susan had her bikini area treated 3 years ago, she often suffered from the unpleasant effects of ingrown hairs, rashes and the like. After, she raves about how great LHR is and how much she is glad her razor rash days are behind her. She has come in for yearly touch-ups just twice in 3 years, but other than that her bikini upkeep is non-existent. If you haven’t tried it you should at least do some research. Of course you can see the Q&A Section on our website or here are some other sites with pretty good information: Hairlasers.com, & Hair Removal Forum
After, is way way better than Before when it comes to Laser Hair Removal. ÂÂ

Contrary to popular belief, it is not only women who feel embarrassed about the amount of hair they have on their body. Laser hair removal for men is growing in popularity as more men than ever are resisting the urge to have a manly image and they are getting rid of their body hair.

How is the laser hair removal process completed? First, a cool gel is applied to the skin which protects against the intense beam of light that is used destroy the hair follicle and inhibit the growth of new hair. An intense light beams at various intervals is applied to the skin which can cause damage to the follicle, after multiple treatments the follicle eventually becomes destroyed and hair growth is impossible.

Laser hair removal for men is a welcome alternative to other methods of quelling unwanted hair, such as; tweezing, waxing, electrolysis and shaving. Men are getting popular parts of the body lasered such as; the back, chest, even the face and area in between the eyebrows.

Laser hair removal is performed at a recognized clinic at various intervals and has a low recovery time. When the patient undergoes the treatment they can continue with their normal activities within hours of the treatment being completed.

The procedure is relatively painless as no needles or blades are used in the hair removal process. In as little as a few sessions the treatments can begin to be effective to slow the growth of hair and reduce the appearance of unwanted hair on the body. The pain factor of this process has been compared to the feeling of tiny flicks on the skin of a rubber band.

Unfortunately, many men have thicker and darker hair which means that additional treatments may be required to rid the body of the excess hair. There is something else that can prove a problem for hair removal technicians while using lasers. Many men have tanned skin, if your skin is tanned or you are of a darker pigmentation than the skin may be susceptible to blistering. Dark hair is actually easier to laser as it easily absorbs the laser.

There are risks to the treatment of the skin that has been treated becoming discolored. This could include darkening or lightening of the pigmentation that has been effected or the skin suffering from burning from the intense light which could cause blistering or the appearance of the skin to change. The hair growth which results could be changed; some people have experienced different color and texture of hair that is re-grown in the area.

Although the treatments come at a costly expense, for many men this expense is worth not having unwanted body hair. These treatments can cost upwards of one-hundred dollars each time the procedure is performed and can take multiple times to become an effective method of hair removal. For most, this is worth it, as the cost can often yield positive results that leave the men hairless in all the right areas.ÂÂ

Laser hair removal is completed with the use of a light which creates quick pulsations on the skin to inhibit the growth of hair through the destroying of the follicle. Although it can take multiple treatments to destroy the hair follicle, it is able to inhibit or slow the growth of hair even after one treatment. There are many advantages that come with laser hair removal:

No More Shaving. When you don’t have to shave you can save valuable money on shaving supplies. When you undergo the laser hair removal you don’t have to worry about razor burn or rashes associated with shaving. When you undergo the laser hair removal treatment it can be effective in as little as one treatment. No longer will you have to shave every couple of days, watching the hair grow in thicker and darker than it grew before. Are you ready to give up the razor? Consider all of the benefits of laser hair removal the next time you think about shaving your legs!

Effectiveness in As little as one treatment. Did you know that laser hair removal can see results in as little as one treatment? After one treatment the hair follicles are on their way to becoming destroyed therefore hair growth is nearly impossible. After the treatment you can see the slowing of hair growth as well as seeing limited hair for a longer period of time. It can last up to months at a time, although multiple treatments will yield the best results.

Save Money on Hair Removal. Laser hair removal can come at a onetime cost, but compared to the costs of hair removal throughout a lifetime it can save you a ton of money! Laser hair removal treatments can come at the price of about $150.00 per session and the average person will need up to five sessions.

Smooth, Hairless Results. The results from laser hair removal are not comparable to shaving. You will receive smooth results on the area of the body that has been treated. After one time you can view results from the area that has been lasered as the hair follicles have been destroyed. Regardless of our sex, or age we all want smooth and hairless skin on specific parts of the body. We no longer have to worry about embarrassing body hair once you have undergone the laser hair removal treatments. This is one of the main benefits for many people experiencing excessive hair growth in unwanted areas.

Fewer Side Effects. In comparison to electrolysis or tweezing there are very few side effects. You can undergo the course of treatment for laser hair removal and get back on with your day immediately after the procedure has been completed. There is little pain from the procedure which could be compared to a small elastic band flicking the skin – this sensation is created from the intense beams of light which are being used to flash the skin and eradicate the hair follicle.

What is laser hair removal? There are many types of laser hair removal ranging in methods which are used to remove the hair and the costs which are associated with each procedure. As the general properties of laser hair removal, light is used to remove the hair from the skin. The intense beam of light is set to pulsate against the skin which will remove unwanted hair. There are many parts of the body that laser hair removal is used, these are; the legs, armpits, chin, upper lip and the bikini line. These are not inclusive, as laser hair removal is performed on a variety of body parts.

Is laser hair removal painful? Each patient is different; therefore some patients associate laser hair removal as painful. There are various types of laser hair removal and therefore the level of pain associated with each can be different, depending on the technique that is used to remove the hair.  For example, Evanesque uses a special device called GentleLASE Dynamic Cooling Device in conjunction with the laser. This device sprays the upper layers of skin with a cooling burst of cryogen just prior to the laser pulse for added comfort. A demonstration video using this technique can be viewed on our website. A beam of light is used to destroy the hair follicle, which is required for hair to grow. The light is used to create heat which destroys the follicle upon impact. At this point, the hair removal process has been successful in removing the hair. A cool gel is used to protect the skin from the intense light.

Is laser hair removal permanent? Often, patients require multiple treatments to gain the results that they wish for, the permanent removal of hair from a certain area of the body. Laser hair removal often slows the growth of the hair as the follicle must repair itself in order to re-grow hair, but to see permanent results multiple treatments of laser hair removal therapy must be completed. Results can be seen from months to several years depending on the course of treatment that has been completed.

There are many reasons that laser hair removal is completed. Patients pay very well for the procedure, which is used as an alternative to shaving, waxing and other painful and less effective methods of hair removal.

There are various risks to undergoing the laser hair treatment course, these include; the inability for the laser to remove short hairs from the body, the lightening of the skin where the laser treatment procedure has been completed, darkening of the skin where the treatment has been performed, blistering due to the high levels of heat which are created from the lights which are used during the laser hair treatment, growth changes when new hair appears in the area that has been lasered. Complications can occur, depending on the type of your skin and the sensitivity levels which are seen in the skin after the procedure has been completed.

Photos are taken at the procedure which can help to narrow the course of treatment and show the patient the before and after picture. Speaking with the laser technician can ensure that all of your expectations are met throughout the course of the treatment. Costs depend on the area that is being treated as well as the setting in which the laser treatments are being offered.ÂÂ

I’m about to demonstrate a quick laser hair removal treatment on my wife’ underarms in the Dallas med spa office.
It only takes a few pulses per session for small areas of hair removal using a laser (here’s a little secret: my wife has had hair-free underarms for over four years). It’s kind of interesting to watch, as well as relieving. If you look at her face she doesn’t even flinch. That’s because there really is no pain since it happens so fast. Hair grows in cycles, so most patients require six treatments for hair removal to be permanent. This should be done every six weeks until the process is completed (basically 30 weeks). You can treat multiple areas in each session.

Common Laser Hair Treatments
Many women get hair removal treatments in common areas such as their bikini line, underarm, face, and back. Men tend to use our laser hair removal service in Dallas for back hair removal, ears, neck under the beard line, and back the of neck. Can you imagine never having to shave your neck hair again? Yeah, that’s pretty cool. I wish I would have gotten mine done before going gray. You see it the laser works off the melanin in your hair (or pigment), so the darker the hair the easier it is to remove using a laser.

Hey, it’s Jeff Rader. I thought I would make this short video talking about one of our main lasers we use for laser hair removal in the Dallas office. It’s actually quite different than many other lasers because you can use it on many different skin types with quick results (some lasers do not do as well on lighter complexes or hair). Also, the laser’s heat cools really fast using what they call the Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD). We’ve used the CANDELA Mini Gentle Lase Hair Removal Laser here in our Dallas medical spa office for a few years now.

More Medical Spa Videos to Come
This is my first video of hopefully many more in the future. My wife Barbara and I, our tech Sherrie, as well as some special guests, will be sharing with you some frequently asked questions, as well as some videos and instructions on many common med spa services in Dallas including laser hair removal, Botox, Microdermabrasion, Micro-current in order to remove the mystery and any fear you may have about getting one of these services for yourself. Join us on our journey as we begin blogging.
