Tim Stack from Popwatch.com Gets Spray Tan with ‘Jersey Shore’ Girls

Tim Stack from Popwatch.com, went to the salon and got a spray tan accompanied by Snooki and J-Woww while hanging out in Miami during the filming of season II back in May. Jersey Shore Executive producer Sally Ann Salsano also came along. Tim hadn’t initially anticipated going to the salon, he was just there for an interview, but they wanted him to get the full experience. Let’s just say he was persuaded.

“I’m half Irish and have the skin tone of a leprechaun. But with a little prodding from Snooki (I believe the sentence “You’ll look so much sexier” was bandied about), I had my first spray tan. And, um, I kinda loved the results,” said Stack.

The  photo above features  the stars and the pop culture  journalist at one of the girls’ favorite bars on Miami Beach,  the Miami Vice.  A spray tan is the quick and healthy answer to looking good without damaging your skin.

Cool Places for Dallas Summer Fun

white-rock-lake-dallas

Hey! It’s Neil again. June is almost over and every year it seems summer passes more quickly. I received a great response from my last article, and before the summer is out, I thought I would share with you some cool places for Dallas summer fun during the hottest months of the year. If you’re an up-and-coming Dallasite, or even older and married, most of these places are fun for the whole family.

  1. White Rock Lake – Sailing, swimming, and walking around Dallas’s closest lake is a pass time some participate in more than just during our hot Dallas summers. While’s it’s cool year-round, there is something special about watching a summer sunset from a sailboat or catamaran. More info on White Rock Lake.
  2. The Belmont – Saturday and Sunday from 1-5pm, throughout June & July,  The Belmont hosts a legendary The Belmont Hotel Poolpool party featuring DJ Jennifer Miller & Paul Paredes. Check out their summer calendar of events(PDF) for live music, and “Barefoot Movies” itinerary.
  3. Hurricane Harbor- Although this nationally-recognized water park is actually in Arlington, it’s still considered in the Metroplex. Bought by Six Flags in 1996, this water adventure ride theme park has dozens of slides, an incredible wave pool, and an amazing lazy river. Of course, this place is highly popular with the youngsters I recommend going even if you’re 60 years-old. There is something for everyone there. See for yourself.
  4. Pinkberry – Create your own frozen fantasy. Choose from fresh fruits, berries, nuts, chocolate, and other yogurt toppings.  It’s like Marble Slab, only it’s not ice cream and they don’t beat it up. They have several locations, but try their Uptown location.
  5. Yucatan Beach Club – Volleyball, live music, pools. This place has it all. They have adult beverages and tiki huts, they do team events for offices or your local community sports teams. Learn more about the Yucatan Beach Club.

Before heading out and taking your shirt off, I wanted to let you know that Evanesque offers laser hair removal for men in Dallas including  feet, back, neck, and any other areas to get laser hair removal.  You might also want to get your tan on without having to spend two weeks visiting the tanning salon. Get 50% off one session of natural spray tanning in Dallas, by adding your cell number to Evanesque’s specials offers club located here.

Five Myths of Spray Tanning Dispelled

spray-tan-dallas-mythsWith all the benefits of spray tanning, it seems there would be no objections, with all the articles which have come out over the years about the damage that tanning beds can do. With all the innovations, even today,  there seems to be several myths surrounding spray tanning (also called sunless tanning). This article is an attempt to dispel five of the most common myths of spray tanning. Some of these have never been true, others have only become false because of the improvements in products and services of the industry.

  1. Sunless spray tanning uses unnatural chemicalsFalse. The spray tan solution solution is mostly made from purified water which has been filtered down to a specific micron (particle) size. Also, for coloring plant sources such as beet sugar. These natural ingredients cause a natural tanning of the skin when applied at the right concentration.
  2. Sunless spray tanning will turn my skin orange or yellow - False. Most high-end solutions at reputable medical spas have products which tan each subject his or her natural tan color, as if it were naturally occurring. These solutions have gotten much, much, better over the years.
  3. Sunless spray tanning process requires me to be completely nude – False. Underwear, bikini or a  swimsuit,  is perfectly acceptable.
  4. Sunless spray tanning will make me smell – False. Unlike many other spray on alternatives, the product Evanesque uses in their Dallas spray tan services is Bronze Biologic, which has no odor.
  5. Sunless spray tanning is for women only – False. A high percentage of men get spray tanning done on a regular basis. They want to do what’s best for their skin and look their best as well.

Hair Removal for Men in Five Unusual Places

hair-removal-for-men-face-nose

Did you know, extra hair in unusual places has been linked to having higher than average testosterone in men?  Scalp baldness has been linked as well. Interesting little joke Mother Nature plays on us men; we can grow hair everywhere, but where we want it to grow.  If you have hair or have had hair in any of these places, you’re not alone. To be honest with you, these areas for hair removal on men are not that unusual, they are actually quite common. They are typically kept quite because men don’t feel they are acceptable areas even when joking with our buddies, and may feel embarrassed.  Seeing men come in day in and day out to get laser hair removal in our Dallas office, I can assure you, these are quite ordinary occurrences.

1. Hair on men’s cheeks- After shaving for ten-to-fifteen years, some men will start seeing a few, to a dozen, dark hairs pop up a little too far outside their beard line. They could appear in the middle of the face, or on high check bones. The girlfriend or wife might even notice on a no shave weekend and decide to start plucking away. Some men have decided to save themselves from this torture and get these pesky hairs removed forever by laser. Yes, they are random, and yes, they are annoying (not the women, the hairs ). Eradicate these little buggers.

2. Hair on the top of men’s feet- Some men might start noticing this in junior high along with athlete’s foot and laser-hair-removal-for-men-dallas-legsunderarm growth. Ever since J.R.R. Tolkien books came out and cartoons and movies were made featuring Hobbits and creatures with hairy feet, other men have found something to poke fun of on their more testosterone-filled brethren. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve heard men tell me this in my office. How they thought it was cool at first, but their pals wouldn’t let up. After their mothers started in on it, this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. They started to shave or use hair removal cremes (the most popular brand name rhyming with “Flair”). I won’t lie to you, since there isn’t much fat on men’s feet, you should probably plan to come a little early and get the numbing gel. The laser stings just a little, but it’s worth it not to be called “Hobbit feet.”

3. Hair on the back of men’s necks – This area effects everyman who is not completely and naturally bald. This area is less unusual,  just more of an annoyance for those men who wear their hair very short. You’re at the barber and they ask if you’d like it squared or rounded. If you’re like me, you don’t really care, but you know you’re going to have some issues in the next few days with in-grown hairs if they aren’t too gentle when trimming back there. Forget about this, take care of those “Dracula teeth.”  It will save you money if you’re always going to the barber just to “get a neck trim.”

4. Hair on the top of men’s noses – This can be as frustrating as heck for some men. This hair may appear as blackhead pimples to others, but upon further examination, it’s tiny dark hairs. If you shave it, it could come back with a raging force, if you pluck it, it could possibly do the same. Get rid of these as soon as you see them. Get them lasered  in a package deal with other undesirable places and you’ll be glad you did.

5. Hair on men’s ears – This starts in your late 20s and early 30s and continues on with age.  These hairs start getting longer and longer, appearing not only in, but on top of the cartilage of your ears. Sometimes laser hair removal can help with this, sometimes it cannot. If the hairs are clear or blond,  it’s less likely hair removal will help because there is not enough hair melanin (which gives hair its color) for the laser to latch on and do its work.

8 Dallas Places to See & Be Seen this Summer

dallas-downtown-farmers-market-things-to-do-summer-2010Flickr: stuckincustoms

Hi. I’m Neil Lemons. I’m a late 20-something  adventurer, blogger, Law of Attractionist, mobile lifestyle enthusiast and Internet Journalist who often writes about fun things to do in Dallas and Texas travel. I’m a friend, happy ongoing client, and business affiliate of Jeff and Barbara over at Evanesque. Yes, I’m a straight guy, I live in Dallas, and I’ve had several great experiences there getting laser hair removal and relaxing and rejuvenating microdermabrasion and I’m not ashamed to admit this fact.  They offer a great service for men and women, young and old.

After spending five years in Dallas living as a young single adult in Dallas, and 10 years in the Metroplex, Jeff and Barbara asked me to share some info very specific to Dallas. Evanesque’s services are about looking and feeling good about yourself. Being confident in yourself and your appearance to others is what they sell, and this is highly important in life.

After reading several of the blog posts about celebrities, beauty news, and funny lists, I thought I would take a different angle making this post a little more personal by offering some great tips for Dallas-residents who want to see and be seen. When you’re young and single, or even if you are older and single, or married and active as a couple, meeting people, being social, networking, and making business connections is important and helps you get ahead in Dallas whether it be climbing the social or business ladder. Before you get out and mingle, you should consider getting a spray tan in Uptown or a 20-minute Express teeth whitening.

Cool Places & Things to Do in Dallas This Summer

If you’re wanting to leverage this city you need to be where the people are hanging out and being social. After living here for awhile, I’ve noticed the social and business elite in Dallas seem to gravitate to certain places around town. These places change from time to time, but there always seem to be those few cool places which never go out of style. I put together this list for those wanting to know “the place to be” in Dallas this summer.

  1. Park on Henderson – This new restaurant opened last summer and quickly became an overnight success with its 60s eclectic, minimalistic style, and delectable food and beverages ranging from dishes such as Bayou Gumbo Spicy Andouille, Okra & Shrimp, Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops, Gemelli Coconut Alfredo and Gari Vinaigrette, Horseradish Crusted Bone-In Ribeye.  Sit on the patio, drink a Mojito and have dinner at Park before playing 2-foot Jenga with your friends next door at Barcadia. Check out Park and make sure to make a reservation to avoid waiting at this cool Dallas restaurant.
  2. The Joule Hotel pool – The Joule is a historic hotel located in Downtown Dallas. Their pool is known as a hot spot for sexy folks. Look through one of the glass walls overlapping the edge of the building. hotel-joule-things-to-do-dallas-this-summer-2010
with an breathtaking view from the roof. There is the reason the national TV show The Deep End ( Gray’s Anatomy only with attorneys) had several night scenes filmed here which were supposed to be set in L.A.
  3. Gloria’s patio on Greenville Ave – Can anyone say Margarita? Gloria’s is a Tex-Mex restaurant that stands out not only for its complementary black bean dip with every meal, but packed patio and ability to attract Dallas elite like moths to a flame. With reasonable prices for most anything you would expect of the Tex-Mex flair, I highly suggest the beef fajita chimichanga covered in chili con queso.
  4. Poolside at The Village Country Club – A culmination of over 15 apartment complexes, since the 1970s The Village has been its own community with its own zip code. Every apartment complex has at least two or three pools, but there is one legendary pool which is “the place to be,” it’s the Olympic-sized pool behind the country club.  Few actually get in the pool, but there are plenty of beautiful people ages 20 -50  sitting beside the pool. Get there early, or you won’t get a chair. With a DJ, poolside bar, and often burgers being cooked on a grill, some have planted at the The Village and never left. You can get in free if you know someone who lives there, it’s five dollars otherwise, but worth the cost. Check out the photo gallery on The Village’s website.
  5. Javier’s – Straying away from the Tex-Mex concept, including tacos and enchiladas, Javier’s focuses on a more realistic image of what Mexico City dining is all about.  The low-lit dining room at Javier’s is replete with mounted game, large paintings, and hanging plants. One of only a handful of places in Dallas where you can still openly smoke a cigar because of their special central air venting, the city of Dallas has allowed them to bypass the restaurant and bar smoking ban which took place in April of last year. Check out their menu, and don’t worry, their cigar lounge is in a separate room from the restaurant.
  6. West Village – This is the restaurant row of Uptown Dallas. With Mi Cocina, Taco Diner , Cru, Social House, and the new Lemon Bar, there are plenty of choices for food, folks, and fun. Parking is free in the main garage, but get there early if you plan on going to happy hour or you will be parking on the roof. On Sundays and Saturdays hang out at Starbucks with your laptop and you’re sure to get a people-watching experience like none other in Dallas, not to mention the shopping opportunities.
  7. Primo’s on the patio – Located on McKinney Avenue on the “Main Street” of Uptown Dallas, you’ll see a packed patio of pretty people, and even locate celebrities like ex-hockey player, restaurateur, and entrepreneur Mike Modano, and Mavs basketball play Dirk Nowitzki.
  8. The Katy Trail - Runners, roller bladers, and dog walkers alike exercise on  this a 12-foot-wide concrete bike trail and an 8-foot-wide parallel, soft-surface running path, with several entrances and plazas linking the Trail to other area parks. It extends 3.5 miles from Airline Road to the American Airlines Center. Once completed, the bike and pedestrian path will link the Mockingbird DART station near SMU to the West End in downtown Dallas.  Take a joy ride on the Katy Trail.
