Laser hair removal is best performed during the fall months when most people spend a significant portion of time out of the sun. Experts recommend clients refrain from tanning activities two weeks prior to treatments and following the treatments to avoid complications. Since the process of laser hair removal requires several treatments for the hair to be completely removed, patients will have several months to recuperate before exposing the skin to the sun. Clients should also remain out of the sun for a few days after the procedure. This will minimize any discoloration that may occur from sun damage.
What Type of Laser Hair Removal is Preferred?
Evanesque is a Dallas-based Spa that offers its clients a variety of solutions for laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation. The GentleLASE System is preferred by our expert technicians for laser hair removal. This system utilizes an alexandrite laser to destroy the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue. The laser emits a special frequency beam of light, and the energy is transformed into heat. Our technique uses a special Dynamic Cooling Device in conjunction with the laser to minimize discomfort. The device emits a burst of cryogen for this purpose.
How Long Will the Entire Process Take?
Since Evanesque uses the fastest laser hair removal system, GentleLASE, each treatment will only take between 10 minutes to one hour, depending on the area treated. For example, the face, underarms and bikini area can all be treated in 10 to 15 minutes each. However, the legs or back may take up to an hour.
To completely remove an area of hair, most people require six treatments. The number depends upon the client’s skin color, hair color, hair texture, hair density and age. The technician will adjust the device according to these specifications before the procedure.
The client must wait until the hair is in the early growth stages for the laser to have the maximum effect. This usually takes between four to six weeks. Clients must wait this length of time, because the laser detects hair with melanin easier than lighter hair. Melanin is more prevalent in the early growth stages after four to six weeks.
The entire process of laser hair removal may take 24 to 36 weeks or six to nine months for complete hair removal. Clients may be not engage in tanning activities during this time. Some clients may have to return annually for minor maintenance.
How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal
Contact Evanesque to schedule an initial consultation and an appointment. In addition to remaining out of the sun for two weeks prior to treatment, clients should shave the intended area of treatment. This process focuses the efforts of the laser on the hair beneath the skin rather than the hair above the surface. No plucking, waxing or depilatories may be used for four weeks before laser hair removal.
Make plans to remain out of the sun after treatment. Most other daily indoor activities may be resumed immediately. The treated area may be slightly sensitive or red following the treatment. The sensitivity may last for a few days. Some clients alleviate discomfort with cooling gels.
